Xmas Cards in a Box

Have a great Christmas!

Been making some Christmas cards to give away to family and friends.  Hope you are having a great time making your own Christmas cards too. The above card was made from the Hunkydory 'A Christmas Hoot' luxury card collection.

In September I did a blog on the Hunkydory 'Card in a Box  - Autumn Surprise' range. Now they have another collection called 'Snowflake Surprise'. (see photo below). Love these cards. They make a great card to send someone special.

Have a great Christmas and keep crafting!

Quilted Cushion

My Diamond Log Cabin Xmas Cushion

Hope you like my oversized Xmas cushion. I am still very much a novice when it comes to quilting and patchwork. The pattern I was given - was for a cute little cushion/ornament for Xmas.  I knew I had a lot of  Xmas scraps of cotton material - so I decided to make a much bigger cushion one that I could use - not just look at!
I started my pattern with a 1 inch green diamond shape and made 20 x 3/4 inch strips of six different cotton xmas fabrics to form the diamond patchwork shape (see photo below). These panels I hand stitched. You need six of these diamond panels.

When all six diamond sections were completed.  I hand stitched three panels together and joined another three panels across the middle (see photo below). Thus forming my cushion front.

The back of the cushion I used a plain green cotton fabric - I did then use my sewing machine so I would have a secure edge for my cushion. It took quite a lot of filling.
Made a round button for the middle and secured a button onto the back of the cushion.
 Viola my cushion was born!

Floral Box Cards

Love Hunkydory's Card in a Box Kit

(from the 'Autumn Surprise' range)

Now Autumn is here many people are unwell - I know myself as I am just getting over a bad cold.  What a lovely surprise it would have been - if somebody had taken the time to make and sent me a lovely floral box card - with a 'get well soon' note inside. Of course you can send these floral box cards on anniversaries and birthdays too. Hospitals nowadays do not allow real flowers at the patients bedside - again our floral box card comes in handy to send to them.
The floral box cards come already on 300gsm foiled and die-cut sheets which makes putting them together a doddle. Hunkydory also supply their own instructions  on how to make the floral box cards up. Once you have made one floral box card it becomes a breeze.
The pack comes in four designs - as shown in the above picture - two of each design so you can make a total of eight floral box cards . The kit also has four sheets of 350gsm foilded and die-cut flowers and leaves. Two sheets of 220micron heavyweight acetate and eight large envelopes to send your finished cards in - see picture below.

As these floral box cards tend to have flappy sides - I made a ribbon with a bow to act as an added support to the box (see top centre floral box card). I also like my bling - so I added a few gem stones were appropriate.

Hope you enjoyed reading my blog - keep crafting!

Diva Cards

My Cute Little Diva's

Bought a Crafter's Companion 'Scruffy Little Cat tm' interactive papercrafting cd-rom some months ago now. All the sassy characters on the cd were taken from images hand drawn by Sharon Sugden. The above character (Lola) came from the toppers companions selection design 4 and easel card design 4 on the cd-rom. All instructions can be found on the print-out on how to make the easel card. To finish I added a large flower from the cd-rom and a sticky pearl.

The card below (Louise) was also made from the toppers companions selection and the same embellishments were also used from the cd-rom.

The Rock Chick card below was made from using my Tonic Heart Base Affections die set - had great fun using the dies on my Grand Calibur.  The top and bottom heart was cut out of mirror and centura pearl card. The rock chic came from the cd toppers design 4 and the paper for the middle of the bottom heart from design set no 1. I found some old bling from my crafty stash and my card was finished. Enjoy and happy crafting!

Easter Cards

Happy Easter!

Bought a fantastic card making kit called 'Floral Fantasia' by Hunkydory. This kit contains materials and instructions of how to make all of the following cards and more. The above picture is of the (4) Trellis Basket cards. The white boxes are also included, which you can decorate accordingly. I had great fun making them up and thought they would make great Easter Basket cards - you can also put in four Chocolate Easter Bunnies for a real treat!

In the kit you also get (4) Floral Spinner Cards. Great for birthdays and special occassions. They come with their own white envelopes, as they fold perfectly flat for posting in the mail.

Next is the (4) Decoupage Easel Cards. Great for birthdays and special occassions - they also have their own white boxes, which you can decorate accordingly.

This kit also has this lovely Notelet Box project.  I loved putting this together. Makes a perfect gift for that special someone.

The papers and cardstock in this kit are so beautiful I only had chance of making a couple of extra ones. Have fun and have a great Easter!

Xmas Cards and Crackers

I Love My Bebunni!

Happy New Year!

This Christmas I used the Tonic Christmas Cracker & 3 Sentiment Die Set. They made the perfect Christmas Cracker. Why - because you can make as many as you like - use your own printed paper in the colour or design you require.

In the picture above I used just one sheet of heart paper and two small toppers from the Crafter's Companion Bebunni Lots of Love Papercraft Collection. Also some red rick-rack to decorate the edges with and some red organza ribbon. Most important do not forget your special gift inside the cracker before tying the last ribbon.

The two cards were also made from the same Bebunni Papercraft Collection. I used two large toppers and a sentiment from the collection. You will also need two 5'' x 5'' (127cm x 127cm) white cards 1 Scalloped Edged  and 1 Plain. 2 pieces of red cardstock 4 1/2'' x 4 1/2'' (11.5cm x 11.5cm), 1 piece of pink heart paper from the collection 4 1/4'' x 4 1/4'' (11cm x 11cm), 1 love strip from the collection 5'' x 1/4'' (12.5cm x 1cm.Two red ribbon bows, 14 red crystal sticker stones and small punched heart.

To make the top card (I love you). Get your pre-scored scalloped edged card and the I love you strip and place down the side of your card and glue into position - I cut off the silver edging as I found this too wide for my card. Next matt and layer the red card, pink heart paper and I love you topper onto your card. If you use a tape runner this normally gives you enough time to manoeuvre everything into position easily. Matt and layer your sentiment with the small piece of red card. When you are happy glue your sentiment into position at the top of your card. Add a red bow and your red crystals around the top and bottom edges. Finished!

To make the bottom card (You make my heart dance). Get your pre-scored plain white card. Matt and layer your red card and topper onto the white card. Cut out a small red heart and glue into position.Glue your bow onto the card and that's it.

If you are lucky to buy the CD aswell you can print off a matching insert with a lovely sentiment. These cards are just right for Valentine's Day!
