Quilted Cushion

My Diamond Log Cabin Xmas Cushion

Hope you like my oversized Xmas cushion. I am still very much a novice when it comes to quilting and patchwork. The pattern I was given - was for a cute little cushion/ornament for Xmas.  I knew I had a lot of  Xmas scraps of cotton material - so I decided to make a much bigger cushion one that I could use - not just look at!
I started my pattern with a 1 inch green diamond shape and made 20 x 3/4 inch strips of six different cotton xmas fabrics to form the diamond patchwork shape (see photo below). These panels I hand stitched. You need six of these diamond panels.

When all six diamond sections were completed.  I hand stitched three panels together and joined another three panels across the middle (see photo below). Thus forming my cushion front.

The back of the cushion I used a plain green cotton fabric - I did then use my sewing machine so I would have a secure edge for my cushion. It took quite a lot of filling.
Made a round button for the middle and secured a button onto the back of the cushion.
 Viola my cushion was born!
