Halloween Card

Happy Halloween!

Been playing with My Craft Studio Tatty Twinkles Ultimate Stamp Collection CD-ROM - as it was Halloween I thought I would make a quick card for you. Tatty Twinkles was created by Nikky Hall. Great CD-ROM.

I always like to make the inside of the card follow through so here it is (see above photo). I also used two backing papers from a free download on the Create & Craft website. Take care and keep crafting!

Quilted Square Sewing Bag

Handy Square Reversible Sewing Bag!

To make this handy bag you will need :-
Two fat quarters of the red material
Two fat quarters of the black material
Four red round buttons
Black cotton

Cut out from the above fabric : -
Five - six and a half inch squares for the outside of the bag
Five - six and a half inch squares for the inside of the bag
Five - six and a half inch squares of wadding (not too thick)
Four - six and half inch squares for the pockets on the outside
Four - six and half inch squares for the pockets on the inside
Two - four and half inch by fourteen and a half inch strips for your handles

When you have cut out your fabric you need to fold your four pockets in half and tack them to the front of  your material. Do the same thing for the inside four pockets.
Sew the outside panels of the bag first - you can sew the wadding to the inside panels or outside as long as you have a sandwich of material - wadding - material. I attached mine to the inside panels. Attach the bottom aswell. All you are doing is making two boxes.
Sew your two bag handles - I attached my handles to the inside of the bag some of the ladies attached them afterwards the choice is yours (See photo's below).
When attaching the handles to the inside make sure they are laying correctly as you might catch them when sewing the bag together.
With right sides together. Sew around the top of your bag leaving a space to turn the bag inside out.
Turn the bag inside out and stitch up the gap you left. Only do this after checking all is well with your bag and you are happy with it.
Press your bag and add the buttons.
Enjoy!

Destination Cards

Destinations!

'Destinations' by Kathleen Francour - a twin CD-Rom Papercrafting Collection by Crafter's Companion.
I so enjoyed one rainy day crafting with this CD-Rom collection.

The above picture is of two cards I made using the Card Companions Japan & Asia selection.
I also used the Designer Inserts, Embellishments and Sentiments selecitons on Disc 1.
Below I made another card from the Card Companions The World & Australia selection on Disc 1. I again printed off extra selections as above. Tonic's Novo liquid pearls were used on the buttons and 300gsm C6 White Scalloped Cards & Envelopes.

Next I printed off some Wine Labels for my small bottle of mead, some Favour Boxes for some sweet treats and a Trinket Box 1 for a desk tidy all from Disc 2. I chose Australia as my main selection as you can see in the photo below. All instructions for making these items can be found on the 'Destinations' CD-Roms.

Hope you enjoy the 'Destinations' Papercrafting CD-Roms as much as I have. There are alot more destinations for you to explore yourself. Have fun and keep crafting!

Quilted Bowl Holders

Microwave Bowl Holders

Great to take your hot bowl of soup from the microwave to the table safely.

You will need:-
2  x 10" 100% cotton fabric squares
2 x 10" 100% cotton wadding squares
100% cotton thread.

1. Place one fabric square right side up on the top of one cotton wadding square and pin.
2. Quilt them together by sewing two diagonal lines of straight stitch. (see above photo)
3. Repeat so you have two fabric squares quilted onto two wadding squares.
4. Make four marks, one on each centre of each triangle on both squares.
5. These marks are where your darts are going to be. The size of the darts will be 1" wide by the depth of your bowl. Pin then check that your bowl fits - then sew the darts in place.
6. Repeat with the other square.
7. Now pin the two squares right sides together, leaving a gap so that you can turn your holder inside out to right side.
8. Sew around, clip seams then turn inside out to right side.
9. Stitch gap and press. Voila your bowl holder.

WARNING:- YOU MUST USE 100% COTTON FABRICS, WADDING AND SEWING THREAD WHEN USING INSIDE THE MICROWAVE. IF YOU DO NOT THE HOLDER COULD CATCH FIRE.

Piano Card

Playing on my Piano!

Why not make something special this month.

I made this piano above by using a template and instructions given in 'The Tattered Lace' magazine issue 14. I found the instructions easy to follow and was pleased with my first attempt (see picture below). I made this special gift for a pianist acquaintance for her birthday. Needless to say she was very surprised!

You can put chocolates or a little gift under the piano lid. The choice is yours. I placed a chocolate treat wrapped in white tissue paper under mine and then placed white roses and pink daisies around the edges - I did not glue them in place but left them loose so that the recipient could get to her gift. I did glue all the other floral decorations onto the piano - so even when these flowers were removed it would not look bare (see pictures below).

Finally I made a plain box to fit the piano in and my special gift was finished.  See www.tatteredlace.co.uk for information about the magazine. Keep crafting!
